UCSD: Happy 25th!

Saturday evening, I had the privilege of attending a celebration of UCSD’s first 25 years at the Computer History Museum.  Here is a summary:

I always like the history lessons.  Part of me likes the appearance of everything and I am reminded of the kinds of machines that were prevalent (insofar as computers could be when I was growing up).

On the other hand, I am less thrilled when I consider that almost everyone who participated looks like me.  Nothing wrong with white males, but it’s always better when more of society participates.

Many thanks to Rajesh Gupta, the current chair of the CSE department at UCSD, who was kind enough to invite me.  (His son Anand was a stellar student at Gunn and is working to prevent cancer.)
